The Superpower in Your Snack!

Hello. Do you ever eat a yummy red apple and suddenly feel like you can run super-fast? Or maybe a crunchy carrot helps you see better when you play hide-and-seek? That amazing power you feel from food… that’s me. I am the secret helper inside every bite you take. My name is Nutrition.

For a long, long time, people just knew that eating made them feel good and strong. A very wise man named Hippocrates, who lived a super long time ago in 400 BCE, told everyone that food could be like medicine to help our bodies stay healthy. Many, many years later, in the 1770s, a scientist named Antoine Lavoisier discovered something amazing. He learned that your body is like a little engine, and food is its fuel. It gives you the energy to wiggle and giggle. Then, around the early 1900s, other clever people found tiny hidden treasures in food called vitamins. They learned that Vitamin C in bright oranges helps keep you from getting sniffles.

Today, I am here to help you grow big and strong and play all day. When you eat a rainbow of yummy foods—like yellow bananas, green beans, and purple grapes—you are getting all my different kinds of power. I am Nutrition, and I love helping you be the healthiest, happiest you. Now, what colorful snack will you eat to get my power today?
