Just want The Count of Monte Cristo?
Before you even know my name, you can feel the excitement I hold. I am the rustle of thin paper pages, the smell of old ink, and the promise of a grand adventure. Inside my covers, you will find stormy seas, a secret island with buried treasure, and a hero with a clever plan. I am not a person, but a world of mystery and courage waiting to be discovered. I am the story called The Count of Monte Cristo.
My story was imagined in Paris, France, by a wonderful writer named Alexandre Dumas. Around the year 1844, he sat with his pen and, with help from his friend Auguste Maquet, dreamed up my hero's journey. I was not created all at once. I was shared with the world in little pieces, published in a newspaper called the Journal des débats from August 28th, 1844, until January 15th, 1846. Every few days, a new part of my story would appear, and people could not wait to find out what happened next. It was like watching a favorite TV show, but they had to read my pages to continue the adventure.
My tale is about a young sailor named Edmond Dantès. He is happy and kind, but jealous men trick him, and he is sent to a scary island prison called the Château d'If. But Edmond is brave and smart. After many years, he makes a daring escape and discovers a magnificent hidden treasure. He becomes the mysterious and wealthy Count of Monte Cristo, and his real adventure begins. People loved that my story was about hope and never giving up, even when things seemed very difficult. My hero showed everyone that being clever and patient is a superpower.
