The story

The Story from the Bell Tower

I live high, high, high up in a big stone tower in a city called Paris. Bong. Bong. The giant bells sing my song all day long. From up here, I can see all the little houses below. They look like tiny toy blocks. I am a story about a special friendship. I am about a girl who loves to dance and a kind man who took care of the bells. I was a happy idea in the heart of a writer who loved this big, beautiful church and wanted everyone to love it too.

Hello. I am the book called The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. A very kind man named Victor Hugo wrote my story. He used a pen and lots of paper to put all my words together. He finished my story a long, long time ago, on March 16th, 1831. He wanted everyone to meet my friends. My first friend is a bell-ringer named Quasimodo. He was strong and had a big heart. My other friend is a brave dancer named Esmeralda. She had a happy smile and a tambourine. Victor Hugo’s story showed everyone that being kind is what makes you beautiful.

My story flew from my pages and into everyone's hearts. People read about my friends and remembered how special the big stone church was. They wanted to take care of it forever and ever. My story was so loved that people made movies about it, with happy songs and lots of dancing. I help everyone remember to be a good friend and to look for the good things inside a person. I am a story that shows how friendship can make the world a brighter place for you and for me.
