Just want Trans-Siberian Railway?
Choo-choo. Choo-choo. Can you hear the sound of a train riding on my back. I am a long, shiny path made of steel. When the sun touches me, I sparkle and shine. I stretch for a very, very long way. I go up tall mountains and down into green valleys. I run through quiet forests where snow falls like soft blankets. I am a path for a great big adventure. I am the Trans-Siberian Railway, and I am the longest railway in the whole wide world.
It took many people and a very big idea to make me. A long, long time ago, a ruler named Tsar Alexander the 3rd had a dream. He wanted to connect his huge country so people could travel from one side to the other. On May 31st, 1891, the work began. So many helpers came to build me. They laid my shiny steel tracks down, piece by piece. Click-clack. Click-clack. They built strong bridges for me to cross over wide, sparkly rivers. They made tunnels for me to go through big, rocky mountains. It was a very big job that took many, many years to finish.
When I was finally finished around the year 1916, everyone was so happy. It was so exciting. For the very first time, trains could ride on me all the way from one end of the country to the other. Choo-choo. My trains helped friends and families visit each other, even if they lived far, far away. I helped people see amazing new places they had never seen before. Today, my trains still go 'choo-choo' across the land. They carry happy travelers on a great journey, reminding everyone that we are all connected, just like my long, shiny tracks.
