The story

I am the Book, Wonder

My cover is bright and blue, and I feel smooth in your hands. I am full of words and pictures, waiting for you to turn my pages. When you open me, a big adventure begins. I hold a story about a boy with a very big heart, a heart full of sunshine and brave feelings. I whisper his story to everyone who reads me. I am the book, Wonder.

My story begins with a kind woman named R.J. Palacio. She wrote all my words. She wanted to share a very important idea with the whole world. She wanted everyone to remember to be kind. I was born on a happy day, February 14th, 2012. My pages tell you all about a boy named Auggie. Auggie looks a little different on the outside, but on the inside, he is just like you. He loves to play and learn new things. He is starting a new school, and he really hopes to make some new friends.

My pages teach a simple, happy lesson. The lesson is easy to remember. It says, 'Choose Kind.' I love making children and grown-ups smile when they read my story. I help them think about being a good friend to everyone they meet. I show that what is inside our hearts is what matters the most. Being different is what makes each person special, like a shiny star in the sky. My story helps everyone remember that kindness is a superpower that we all have inside of us.
