1986 FIFA World Cup

Hello, my friend. My name is Diego Maradona, and I love to play football. It’s my favorite game in the whole wide world. I love to run with the ball at my feet, zigging and zagging like a little airplane. A long, long time ago, in the year 1986, my friends and I from my home country of Argentina went to a very special place called Mexico. We went there for a big football party called the World Cup. Everyone was so excited. We practiced every day to be the best team we could be. We wanted to show everyone how much we loved to play together.

One day, on June 22nd, 1986, we had a very important game. The sun was shining bright, and the crowd was cheering loudly, making a happy rumbling sound. It was so exciting. In that game, I scored two special goals. For the first one, I jumped up, up, up, as high as I could, and boop. The ball went right into the goal. It was a little bit sneaky but so much fun. For my second goal, I ran with the ball like we were playing a game of tag. I zoomed past one player, then another, and another, all the way to the goal. It felt like I was dancing with the ball. Everyone clapped and cheered. It was a magical day.

After that big game, we played one more time to become the champions. On June 29th, 1986, we won. We won the whole World Cup. Hooray. I got to lift a big, shiny gold trophy high up in the air for everyone to see. It was so heavy and so beautiful. Winning with my friends was the best feeling ever. It showed me that if you practice, work together as a team, and always believe in your dreams, anything is possible. I grew old and am not here anymore, but people still remember that happy day.
