A Day with a Dinosaur
Hello from my world. My name is Rex, and I am a big Tyrannosaurus Rex. I have strong legs and a long, swishy tail. I lived a long, long, long time ago, around 66 million years ago, in a time called the Cretaceous Period. My home was a warm and sunny place. The trees were so tall they tickled the sky, and there were giant green plants that looked like huge feathers. Lots of my dinosaur friends lived there with me. The sun felt warm on my back, and the air smelled sweet like flowers and damp earth. It was a wonderful place to be a dinosaur, full of sounds and sights and lots of room to stomp and play.
Every day was full of fun and games. My favorite thing to do was stomp my big feet. STOMP. STOMP. STOMP. I loved making the ground shake just a little bit. It was my happy dance. I had a best friend named Tina. She was a Triceratops with three pointy horns on her face, but she was very gentle. We would play hide-and-seek behind the big, leafy ferns. I was big, so it was hard for me to hide, which made Tina giggle. Sometimes, we would lie in the soft grass together and watch the Pterosaurs fly high above us. They weren't birds, but they had big wings and soared through the bright blue sky like kites.
We had so much fun for a very, very long time. But after many, many years, our world started to change. It was time for the age of the dinosaurs to come to an end. But guess what. Our story isn't over. You can still visit me and my friends. Our amazing, giant bones are kept safe in special buildings called museums. When you see them, you can imagine our big world and remember that our story helps tell the story of our wonderful planet, Earth.
