Instant Camera

Hello. I am a very special camera. Do you know my name. I am an Instant Camera. When other cameras take a picture, you have to wait and wait to see it. But not with me. I am super fast. I go click, and then I make a soft whirring sound as a little picture slides out of my tummy. It starts all white and sleepy. Then, like magic, you can watch the colors wake up. Slowly, a happy smile or a bright, sunny day appears right in your hands. It’s so much fun to watch the magic happen before your very eyes.

A long time ago, on a sunny day in 1944, a kind man named Edwin Land was taking a picture of his little daughter. She was a very curious little girl. After he took the picture, she looked up at him and asked, “Daddy, why can’t I see the picture now.”. That was a very big question. It made Edwin think and think. He went to his workshop and started mixing special, bubbly goo and trying all sorts of wonderful ideas. He worked so hard because he wanted to make his daughter’s wish come true. And guess what. He did it. He invented me. I was born from a little girl’s big idea, so no one would ever have to wait to see their happy moments again.

My favorite job in the whole world is making magic memories. I love going to birthday parties to capture the moment you blow out your candles. I get so excited to see sunny days at the park and all the silly faces you make. When I take a picture, you don’t have to keep it a secret.
