The story

The Myth of Iara, the River Singer

Do you hear that music? It comes from deep in the warm, green Amazon River. Bright blue butterflies flutter over big lily pads. Playful pink dolphins swim all around. In the river lives a singer. This is the story of Iara, the River Singer. It is a story about the magic that lives in the water.

Every evening, the sun makes the sky orange and pink. Iara rests on a big, mossy rock. She begins to sing her beautiful song. Her song is magic. The magical song drifts through the jungle trees. It dances over the water. A fisherman in his little boat hears the song. He stops paddling. The music makes him feel so happy and peaceful. He follows the sound and sees Iara. She has long, dark hair. Her tail shimmers with all the colors of a rainbow. Iara smiles and waves hello.

Her home under the river is a magical garden. There are glowing plants and shiny pearls. The pearls look like tiny moons. So many fish swim by. They glitter and sparkle like jewels. Iara's song is the voice of the river. Her song tells everyone to love and care for our beautiful world. The story of Iara helps people remember the magic in nature. It helps them remember to sing happy songs and love the wonderful river.
