The story

Perseus and Medusa

Once upon a time, there was a brave hero named Perseus. Perseus lived on a sunny island with warm, yellow sand. The big, blue sea went splash, splash, splash on the shore. One day, a king who was very grumpy gave Perseus a big, big job. The king wanted Perseus to find a scary monster. Oh my. It was a very tricky job. This is the story of Perseus and the monster Medusa. It is a big adventure about being brave and clever. What a big job for a brave hero.

The monster's name was Medusa. Medusa had wiggly, slithery snakes for hair. Hiss, hiss, hiss went the snakes. If you looked at her, you would turn into a hard, gray stone. That sounded a little scary. But Perseus was a very brave hero. And he had special friends to help him. A kind goddess named Athena gave Perseus a big, shiny shield. The shield was so shiny, like a mirror. A friendly god named Hermes gave Perseus special sandals. The sandals had tiny, fluttery wings. Whoosh. Perseus could fly. He flew high, high, high in the sky, just like a little bird. He flew over the fluffy white clouds to a faraway land. He used the shiny shield like a mirror to see Medusa. He didn't look at her with his eyes. He looked at her in the shiny shield. It was a clever, clever plan.

Perseus was so brave and so clever. He finished his big job. He flew back home on his fluttery, winged sandals. Whoosh. On his way, he saw a big, splashy sea monster trying to scare a princess. Perseus was a hero. He saved the princess, and she was so happy. When Perseus came home, everyone cheered. Yay, Perseus. Yay. His adventure shows that even when something is hard, being brave and smart can help you. You can be a hero, too, just like brave Perseus. It's good to be brave and kind.
