The story

The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor

Hello there! My name is Sinbad, and the salty spray of the sea is my favorite smell in the world. Long ago, I lived in the grand city of Baghdad, but my heart always longed for adventure beyond the city walls. I wanted to see what lay past the horizon, so I used the money my father left me to buy a ship and set sail on my very first journey, the start of what people now call The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor. I couldn't wait to discover faraway lands, meet new people, and see marvelous creatures.

On my first voyage, we sailed for many days until we spotted a beautiful green island. My crew and I went ashore, happy to feel solid ground. We built a fire to cook our food, but suddenly the whole island began to shake! It wasn't an island at all—it was the back of a gigantic fish that had been sleeping in the sea! The giant fish dove deep into the water, and I was thrown into the waves. I grabbed onto a wooden tub from our ship and floated all alone on the big, wide ocean. I was scared, but I knew I had to be brave. I paddled with my hands until I finally washed ashore on a real island, tired but safe.

My adventures were just beginning. On another voyage, I found myself in a deep valley with walls so steep no one could climb out. The floor of the valley wasn't covered in dirt or grass—it was sparkling with diamonds as big as my fist! But giant snakes guarded them. I saw huge birds, called Rocs, flying overhead. I had a clever idea! I tied a big piece of meat to my back and hid. A Roc swooped down, grabbed the meat (and me!), and carried me out of the valley to its nest. I quickly untied myself and gathered pockets full of diamonds before finding my way back to a port and sailing home, richer than I could have ever imagined.

After seven amazing voyages, I returned to Baghdad for good. I had seen giant birds, escaped angry cyclopes, and sailed on magical seas. I loved to share my stories with anyone who would listen. People wrote my tales down, and they became part of a famous book called 'One Thousand and One Nights.' For hundreds of years, my adventures have made children and grown-ups wonder about the magic of the world. My story shows that with a little bravery and cleverness, you can overcome anything. And even today, my voyages inspire people to dream of their own adventures, whether in books, movies, or the wonderful journeys they imagine in their minds.
