The story

Ariadne and the Labyrinth

Hello. My name is Ariadne. I live on a sunny, sunny island. My island is called Crete. The water sparkles all day. It is so pretty. My father is King Minos. He built a giant puzzle. It has tall walls and twisty paths. The puzzle is a big maze. It goes round and round. It is very hard to find your way out. So many turns. It is a very tricky puzzle. We call this story the myth of The Labyrinth. It is a famous story about my big puzzle.

Inside my father's big puzzle lived a lonely creature. Everyone was a little scared to get lost in the maze. One day, a brave visitor came to my island. His name was Theseus. He was so brave. He said, "I will go into the Labyrinth.". I heard him and I felt worried. I did not want him to get lost. I wanted to help him. I thought and thought. Then, I had a super good idea. A clever, clever idea. I found a big ball of shiny, golden thread. It was so bright and shiny.

I ran to Theseus. I gave him my shiny, golden thread. I said, "Hold one end at the start. Let the thread unroll when you walk.". Theseus went into the maze. The golden thread rolled out behind him. It made a shiny path. When he was ready to come out, it was easy. He just followed the golden thread all the way back. My clever idea worked. He was safe. My story shows that even a tricky puzzle can be solved. You just need to be brave and have a clever idea. Now you see fun mazes everywhere, and they remind you of the myth of the Labyrinth.
