Just want Girl Guides?
Hello! We are the Girl Guides, a group created for girls who want to have adventures, learn important skills, and make the world a better place. Our story begins a long time ago, in 1909. At that time, there was a popular group for boys called the Boy Scouts, but there wasn't a group like it for girls. One day, a group of brave girls in England showed up at a Boy Scout event and asked if they could join in the fun.
The founder of the Boy Scouts, a man named Robert Baden-Powell, saw how much these girls wanted their own adventures. He knew they deserved a special group just for them. So, he decided to create one. He asked his sister, Agnes Baden-Powell, to help him get everything started. Together, they officially began our group in 1910. From that day forward, girls had a place where they could learn, grow, and explore together.
Our main goal has always been to help girls become their best selves. We do this by learning new skills, making lifelong friends, and finding ways to help our communities. In some countries, you might know us as the Girl Guides, while in other places, we are called the Girl Scouts. No matter our name, we all share the same spirit. We do all sorts of exciting activities, like camping under the stars and learning first aid so we can help in an emergency. We also earn special badges to show what we have learned. You can get a badge for learning how to cook a meal, how to use a computer, or how to protect nature and the animals that live in it.
Every Girl Guide and Girl Scout around the world shares a special motto. Our motto is simple but very important: “Be Prepared.” This means that we are always ready to help others, no matter what happens. We practice being prepared by learning useful skills and thinking ahead. Along with our motto, we also make a special promise. We promise to do our best, to be kind, and to help people. This promise is a reminder to be a good friend to others and a helpful citizen in our neighborhoods and towns. It guides us in everything we do.

We are not just one small club; we are a very big, worldwide family! Today, there are millions of us in countries all over the globe. To help connect all of our groups, there is an organization called the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, which you can call WAGGGS for short. WAGGGS helps us all work together and share ideas. If you travel to another country, you might see that our uniforms look a little different, but our goals are always the same. We all want to help girls grow strong, confident, and kind.
We are still going strong today, with lots of new and exciting things to do. We learn about science and technology, and we work on projects to take care of our environment. Of course, we still sell our famous cookies! Selling cookies is a fun way to raise money that helps us pay for our camping trips and special projects. We continue to welcome new girls who want to join us for adventures, make wonderful new friends, and work together to make the world a happier and better place for everyone.
