Hello! We are the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. You can call us by our nickname, Fiocruz. We were started a long time ago in the country of Brazil. A doctor named Oswaldo Cruz helped create us. Our main job has always been to help people stay healthy.
We have many healthy helpers who do important work. One of our biggest jobs is making special medicines called vaccines. Do you know what vaccines do? They work like invisible shields inside your body. These shields help protect you from sickness and keep you strong and safe.
Another one of our jobs is to study tiny bugs. Our scientists look very closely at them to learn all about them. When we understand how these bugs work, we can figure out how to stop them from bothering people and making them ill. This helps keep whole neighborhoods healthy.
We are still working hard today to help everyone. We help keep children and families healthy in Brazil. We also help people all around the world. Our goal is to make sure everyone has a chance to be healthy and happy, and that is what we do every single day.
