Peace Corps

Hello! We are the Peace Corps. We are a group from a country called the United States. Our main job is to send helpers to many different places all around our big world. We call these special helpers volunteers. Our volunteers pack their bags and travel to live in new countries. They live with new neighbors and learn about new ways of life. Their goal is to help people with their work and to make wonderful new friends.

Our volunteers are busy bees! They do all kinds of important jobs. They always work together with the people in their new communities. Some volunteers are teachers. They go to schools and help children learn to read exciting books and write their names. It is fun to learn together! Other volunteers show families how to stay healthy and strong. They might help them find clean water for drinking or teach them about healthy foods. Some volunteers even work in gardens, helping to grow yummy fruits and vegetables for everyone to share. By working together, they can get a lot done.

We started our work a very long time ago, back in 1961. For many years, we have been sending our volunteers to be good neighbors around the world. And we still do it today! We still send helpers to many countries to share and to learn. We believe that helping each other is very important. When we learn from our friends in other countries, and they learn from us, it helps everyone understand each other better. This helps make the whole world a more peaceful and friendly home for all of us.
