Pratham

Hello! We are the Pratham Education Foundation. That is a long name, so many people just call us Pratham. We are a team of helpers who work in a big, beautiful country called India. Our most important job is helping children learn. We want every child to be able to read wonderful stories all by themselves. We want them to know how to write their name and other fun words. We also help them learn how to count and use numbers in games.

We started our work many years ago, in the year 1995. We began in a very big city in India called Mumbai. While we were there, we noticed that some children did not have a school building near their homes. It was too far for them to go. We wanted to help, so we had an idea. What if we brought the school right to them? We started small, friendly classes right in their communities so they would not have to travel far to learn.

Now, we help children all over the country of India. We have special learning camps and fun classes that feel like playtime. In our classes, children can practice reading new words and look at colorful books. They can learn about math by playing games. We also work with grown-ups, like families and teachers. When we all work together as a team, we can make sure every child gets the help they need to learn and grow.

Our work is still very important today. We continue to create happy places for children to learn. We believe that when children can read, write, and count, they can do anything they dream of. Helping every child in India get a good education is our main goal, and we work on it every single day.
