The story

Helping Children with UNICEF

Hello! We are the United Nations Children's Fund. That's a long name, so you can call us by our short name, UNICEF. We are a special group that helps children all over the world. We started a long time ago, in 1946. This was after a big war, and many children were hungry and needed help. Our first job was to make sure they had good food to eat and medicine to feel better.

One of our most important jobs is to help kids stay healthy and strong. We make sure children have yummy, healthy food that helps their bodies grow. We also help families find clean water to drink. Clean water is very important for staying healthy. We give children special medicine called vaccines. Vaccines are like a shield that keeps your body safe and helps you not get sick. We want every child to be healthy.

We also believe that every child should be able to learn and play. Learning is a big adventure! That's why we help build schools where children can learn new things. We give out books to read and pencils for drawing and writing. It is also very important for children to feel safe. We work to make sure children have safe homes to live in and safe places to play with their friends.

Today, we are still working hard for children everywhere. From tiny villages to big cities, we are there to help. We help children eat healthy food, drink clean water, go to school, and play safely. Our job is to help every child have a happy and healthy childhood. We are UNICEF, and we are here for children.
