Just want Black Forest?
Hello there. My trees are so tall they tickle the clouds, and their leaves whisper secrets to the wind. Sunlight plays peek-a-boo through my branches, making sparkly patterns on the ground. Can you hear the birds singing and the leaves rustling? I am a big, beautiful woods in a country called Germany. I am the Black Forest.
A very long, long time ago, around the 1st century, some visitors called Romans came to see me. They thought my pine trees grew so close together that I looked dark and sleepy inside. That’s how I got my name. Many years later, in the 1700s, clever people who lived here used my wood to make wonderful things. Their favorite thing to make was a special clock. A little wooden bird would pop out of a tiny door and sing, “Cuckoo, cuckoo!”. They are called cuckoo clocks, and they made people smile all over the world.
Later on, in the early 1800s, two brothers named Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm loved to collect stories. They heard tales about candy houses, brave children, and magical animals that took place in forests just like me. Their fairy tales are still told today. Now, I am a happy home for squirrels and deer. Families come to visit me. They walk on my paths, have picnics, and make their own happy stories. I love hearing children laugh while they play among my trees.
