Imagine a place that looks like a giant, rumpled bedsheet made of the purest, whitest sand, stretching as far as your eyes can see. The sun warms my sandy hills, and a gentle breeze makes soft ripples across my surface. At first glance, you might think I am a desert, a vast and empty space. But I hold a sparkling secret. If you walk over one of my tall, soft dunes, you won't find more sand. Instead, you will discover a pool of crystal-clear water, cool and inviting. I am Lençóis Maranhenses, which means the 'bedsheets of Maranhão', and I lie on the coast of the beautiful country of Brazil.
