Just want San Salvador?
Imagine a beautiful valley where green mountains sleep all around. One of the mountains is a big volcano that watches over everything. In this valley are houses painted like rainbows, and you can hear happy music and smell yummy food everywhere. It is a special place. I am the city of San Salvador.
My story begins a long, long time ago. Before I had my name, the Pipil people lived here. They were my first friends. They built cozy homes and grew yummy corn to eat. Then, one day, explorers came from a faraway land called Spain. A man named Pedro de Alvarado was with them. On April 1st, 1525, they gave me my special name, San Salvador. At first, I was just a small town, like a little seed. But I grew and grew into a big city. Sometimes, my volcano friend rumbles and makes the ground wiggle, but the people who live here are very brave. They always help me stand tall and make me beautiful again.
Today, I am a big, busy city full of sunshine. Families laugh and play in my parks. Children fly colorful kites that dance in the sky. The air smells like delicious pupusas, a special treat everyone loves to eat. I love being a home full of bright colors, happy songs, and smiling faces. I will always be here to share my stories and my smiles with everyone who visits me. I love being a happy home.
