Just want Sơn Đoòng Cave?
Shhh… can you hear that sound. It is a powerful river rushing through the darkness. You can feel a cool mist on your face, blown by a wind that comes from deep inside the earth. Look up. A bright beam of sunlight shines down from a hole high above, lighting up giant green trees and plants. It looks like a secret jungle hidden from the world. Most people don't know I am here, tucked away in the country of Vietnam. I am Sơn Đoòng Cave, the biggest cave in the world.
I wasn’t always this big. My story began millions of years ago, when a river started to carve its way through a giant mountain made of stone. Year after year, the water pushed and swirled, making my tunnels and rooms bigger and bigger. Today, my main room is so tall that a skyscraper from a big city could fit right inside it. I have huge stone shapes called stalagmites that grow up from my floor. Some are as tall as buildings. I am so large that I even have my own weather. Clouds can form near my high ceiling. My most special feature is my very own jungle. A long, long time ago, a part of my ceiling collapsed, creating a giant window to the sky. Sunlight poured in, and soon, a beautiful green forest, called the Garden of Edam, began to grow deep inside me.
For thousands of years, I kept my beauty a secret. No one knew about my giant rooms, my rushing river, or my hidden jungle. That changed in the year 1990. A man from a nearby village named Hồ Khanh was walking in the forest when he found my entrance. He heard the loud whoosh of my wind and the roar of my river, but the entrance was a steep drop, and he did not go inside. He went home, but he could never forget the mysterious opening. For years, he tried to find me again, but the jungle had hidden my location well. I waited patiently. Finally, in 2009, he rediscovered my entrance. This time, he knew he had found something special. He brought back a team of explorers from Britain to help him. On April 10th, 2009, Hồ Khanh led them down into my darkness for the first time. As their lights lit up my giant walls, they gasped in wonder. My amazing secret was finally being shared.

After the world learned about me, many people wanted to come and see my wonders. Starting in August of 2013, a very small number of visitors were allowed to carefully explore my passages each year. It is very important that everyone who visits is gentle. I am ancient and delicate. Visitors must stay on paths and promise not to touch anything, so I can stay beautiful for millions of more years. I am a powerful reminder that our Earth holds incredible, hidden treasures. I show everyone the amazing things nature can create when it is given enough time, waiting quietly to be discovered.
