Just want Hachikō?
Hello. My name is Hachikō, and I am a fluffy Akita dog. I was born on a special day, November 10th, 1923. My best friend in the whole world was my person, Professor Ueno. I loved him so much. Every morning, we would walk to the Shibuya train station together. It was our favorite thing to do. Then, every evening when he came home from work, I would run to the station to meet him right as his train arrived. I was always so happy to see him.
One day in May of 1925, I went to the station just like always. I sat and watched the people get off the train, but my best friend was not there. I waited and waited, but he did not come. I did not understand why he wasn't there, but I knew what I had to do. Because I am a loyal friend, I knew I had to keep waiting. So I came back to the station the next day, and the next, and the day after that. I waited for him every single day, no matter if it was sunny or rainy.
I waited for my friend for a very, very long time, for almost ten years. The people who worked at the station and other travelers were very kind to me. They made sure I had food and warm pats on the head. Then, in 1934, they did something amazing to celebrate our friendship. They built a statue of me, right there at the station where I always waited. My story shows everyone how special the love between a person and their dog can be. I lived a long time ago, and my story helps people remember how important it is to be a loyal friend.
