The story

A Leopard Seal's Story

Hi there. I'm a Leopard Seal, and I live in the coldest, iciest place on Earth, called Antarctica. I have a long, strong body with a coat of spots, just like a leopard on land. That's how I got my name. I also have a very big mouth that looks like I'm always smiling. I love my chilly home, full of sparkling ice and deep blue water.

Splish, splash. I am a super swimmer. I use my big flippers to zoom through the frosty water like a rocket. It's so much fun to chase my lunch. I love to eat tiny pink krill and slippery fish. Sometimes I play a fun game of tag with penguins in the water. I'm also a singer. I make loud, humming songs underwater. It's my special way of talking to other seals, especially when the sun shines all day long in the summer.

Being a top hunter is a very important job. I help keep the ocean balanced and healthy by making sure there aren't too many of any one animal. I'm a key part of my amazing Antarctic world. I love patrolling the ice and swimming in the sea, and I'm proud to be a big, spotty, singing Leopard Seal. My story is important because I help take care of my ocean home.
