Alexander Hamilton

Hello! My name is Alexander Hamilton. I grew up on a warm, sunny island in the Caribbean Sea. I loved to read books and write stories. When I was a teenager, I sailed on a big ship all the way to a new place called America because I wanted to learn as much as I could.

In America, I met a very important man named George Washington. He became my good friend. We worked together in a big war called the American Revolution. I was his special helper, and I wrote many important letters for him. We wanted to help America become its very own country, a place where people could be free and happy.

After the war, we had a brand-new country, the United States of America! I helped write the rules for our new government. My friend George Washington became the first president, and he gave me a very important job. I became the first person in charge of our country's money, the Secretary of the Treasury. I worked hard to make sure our new country would be strong.

I lived to be 47 years old and was very proud of the country I helped build. Today, people remember me as one of America’s Founding Fathers. If you ever look at a ten-dollar bill, you’ll see my face right there!
