The story

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: The Pilot Who Wrote a Story

Hello. My name is Antoine. A long time ago, in the year 1900, I was born in a place called France. When I was a little boy, I loved to look up at the big, blue sky. I would watch the birds soar high above and dream that one day, I could fly just like them. It was my biggest dream. When I grew up, my dream came true. I became a pilot. I learned to fly my very own airplane high above the fluffy clouds and close to all the twinkling stars at night.

Flying my airplane was my biggest and best adventure. From my seat high in the air, I saw so many amazing things down below. I saw sandy deserts that looked like big, golden oceans. I saw tall mountains that looked like they touched the sky. All of these beautiful sights gave me wonderful ideas for stories. I loved to write and draw pictures. In the year 1943, I created a special book about a little boy with hair as yellow as the sun. He was a prince from a tiny planet, and on his planet, he had a beautiful rose that he loved very much.

My book is called 'The Little Prince.' After many adventures flying through the sky, my time as a pilot came to an end. But my story lives on. Today, children and grown-ups all over the world read about the Little Prince and his journey. My book helps remind everyone that the most important things, like friendship and love, are special because they can only be seen with your heart.
