Just want Antoine Galland?
Hello! My name is Antoine Galland, and I want to tell you my story. I was born a very long time ago, on April 4th, 1646, in a small town in France. Even when I was a little boy, my favorite thing in the world was books! I loved learning new languages and reading about faraway places and exciting adventures. I spent hours with my nose in a book, imagining what life was like in other parts of the world. When I grew up, I knew I had to see these places for myself. I moved to the big city of Paris to study even more, getting ready for the great journeys that were waiting for me. My love of reading was like a map, showing me where I wanted to go.
My love of learning took me on incredible journeys. In the year 1670, I packed my bags and traveled all the way to a city called Constantinople, which is now known as Istanbul in Turkey. It was so different from my home in France! I was filled with wonder as I explored ancient buildings that had stood for hundreds of years. I also collected old coins, each one telling a little piece of history. Most importantly, I listened. I spent my time in the busy markets and cozy cafes, where people gathered to talk. I listened to the amazing stories that people told. I learned so much about different ways of life and heard tales that were unlike anything I had ever read in my books back home.
One day, I found a collection of old Arabic stories called *One Thousand and One Nights*. As I read them, I was amazed. They were filled with genies who could grant wishes, brave sailors who fought sea monsters, and clever heroes who found hidden treasures! I knew right away that I had to share these wonderful tales with everyone. I began translating them into the French language in 1704 so my friends and family back home could read them, too. During this time, a wonderful storyteller from a country called Syria visited me. His name was Hanna Diyab, and he told me some new tales that weren't in the original book. One of those stories was the amazing adventure of Aladdin and his magic lamp!

My book of stories, which people started calling The Arabian Nights, became a huge success! People who had never left their towns could suddenly open a book and read about magical adventures in faraway lands. It was like giving them a key to a whole new world. I lived to be 68 years old. My greatest joy was knowing that the stories I shared, like those of Sinbad the Sailor and Ali Baba, are still sparking the imaginations of children and grown-ups all over the world today. The magic of a good story can travel anywhere and live on forever.
