Just want Babur?
Hello! My name is Zahir-ud-din Muhammad, but everyone called me Babur, which means 'tiger.' I was born a long time ago, on February 14th, 1483, in a beautiful place called the Fergana Valley. My family was very important; I was a descendant of two of the greatest conquerors in history, Timur and Genghis Khan! From a young age, I dreamed of being a great ruler just like them.
When I was only 12 years old, in 1495, my father passed away, and I became the ruler of our land. It was a very big job for a young boy. Other rulers wanted my kingdom, and I had to fight many battles. For a while, I lost everything and had to wander with my loyal friends. Even though it was a hard time, I never gave up on my dream of building a kingdom of my own.
After many adventures, my journey took me south over tall, snowy mountains. In 1504, I captured the city of Kabul, in modern-day Afghanistan. It became my new home and the base for my future plans. From Kabul, I looked toward the rich lands of Hindustan, which is now called India. I believed it was my destiny to rule there.
My biggest moment came on April 21st, 1526. I led my small army to a place called Panipat to face the huge army of the Sultan of Delhi, Ibrahim Lodi. It seemed like an impossible fight! But I had a plan. We used cannons, which were new to fighting in India, and my soldiers were very brave. We won the battle! This victory was the beginning of a brand new empire I started, which would become famous all over the world: the Mughal Empire.

I spent the rest of my life building my new empire in India. I loved to design beautiful gardens, and I wrote a book about my life called the 'Baburnama' so people could know my story. I lived to be 47 years old. The Mughal Empire that I started lasted for over 300 years and was known for its amazing art, buildings, and culture. Today, I am remembered as the founder of one of the greatest empires in history.
