Just want Domingo Faustino Sarmiento?
Hello! My name is Domingo Faustino Sarmiento. I was born a long, long time ago, on February 15th, 1811, in a country called Argentina. When I was a little boy, my favorite thing in the whole world was reading books. I would read anywhere I could! Books were like magic doors to new adventures and big ideas.
I loved learning so much that I wanted every child to have the same chance. I thought, 'School is the best place to learn and grow!' So, I decided I would help build schools. I worked hard to open schools for boys and girls all over my country. I wanted everyone to be able to read, write, and dream about what they could become.
When I grew up, I got a very important job. In 1868, I became the president of Argentina! It was a big job, but I never forgot about my love for learning. As president, I helped build even more schools, libraries full of books, and places for science. I believed that when children learn, it helps the whole country become stronger and happier.
I lived to be 77 years old, and I spent my life sharing my love for books and school. Today, people in Argentina remember me as 'The Schoolmaster President' because I worked so hard to make sure children could go to school. I hope you love learning just as much as I did!
