The story

A Story About Titus

Hello! My name is Titus. I was an emperor a very, very long time ago in a big city called Rome. Being an emperor was a very important job. It meant I was the leader, and it was my job to take care of everyone in the city. My dad, Vespasian, was the emperor before me! I loved Rome very much, and I loved all the people who lived there. I always wanted to be a good helper.

Sometimes, things happened that were a little sad. In the year 79 CE, a big mountain called Mount Vesuvius made a huge, dusty mess in some of our towns. I knew I had to help. I made sure everyone who needed it got food and a safe place to stay. But I also got to do something super exciting! My dad had started building a giant, round building called the Colosseum. It was my job to finish it. In the year 80 CE, it was finally done! We had a huge party for everyone to come and see it. People could watch amazing shows and fun parades there.

My time as an emperor was short, but I always tried my best to be kind and helpful to everyone. I lived to be 41 years old. Today, people remember me as a caring leader who helped his city when it needed him. And if you ever visit the city of Rome, you can still see the amazing Colosseum I helped build so long ago!
