Just want Empress Maria Theresa?
Hello there! My name is Maria Theresa, and I was a very important ruler, like a queen. I was born a long, long time ago, on May 13th, 1717. I lived in a beautiful, big palace in a country called Austria. It was my job to lead my people and take care of our home.
Besides being a ruler, I was also a mommy. I had a wonderful husband named Francis, whom I married in 1736, and we had sixteen children. That’s a lot of little ones to hug. We filled our palace with laughter and love. My family was the most important thing in the world to me.
I wanted to be a good and kind ruler. When I began my rule in 1740, I decided to make things better for everyone. I helped build new schools so that all children, not just princes and princesses, could learn to read and write. I believed that helping people learn was one of the best ways to care for them.
I lived a long and busy life, trying my best every day. I lived to be 63 years old. Today, people remember me as a strong leader who was also a loving mother. I showed everyone that a woman could be a powerful and caring ruler, all at the same time.
