Just want Eric Carle?
Hello. My name is Eric Carle. When I was a little boy, I loved colors. I loved watching little critters crawl on leaves and flutter in the sky. I was born in a place called Syracuse, New York, on June 25th, 1929. My favorite thing to do was walk in nature with my father. He showed me all the amazing tiny creatures hiding in the grass and under rocks. It was so much fun to see them up close. I always thought about how beautiful they were.
When I grew up, I wanted to share my love of colors and animals with children everywhere. So, I started making books. I didn't just draw my pictures. I made them in a special way. I would paint bright colors on thin paper. Then, I would cut and tear the paper to make all my characters. In 1969, I created a book about a very, very hungry caterpillar. Maybe you know him. He munched and crunched his way through so many yummy foods before turning into a beautiful butterfly.
I made many books about little animals, like a quiet cricket, a busy spider, and a lonely firefly. I loved creating these colorful worlds for you to explore. I lived a long and happy life and got to be 91 years old. Even though I am not here anymore, my hungry caterpillar and all his friends are still waiting in my books to say hello to you.
