Just want Fukuzawa Yukichi?
Hello! My name is Yukichi Fukuzawa. When I was a little boy in a country called Japan, a long, long time ago, I loved to learn new things. I was very curious and always asked lots of questions. I wanted to understand everything about the world around me.
When I grew up, I got to go on big trips! I sailed on a huge ship all the way to a place called America. I saw how people in other countries lived, what they ate, and the amazing things they built. It was so exciting to see a world so different from my home.
I came back to Japan and wanted to share everything I had learned. I believed that everyone, boys and girls, should have the chance to learn new ideas. So, in the year 1858, I started my very own school to teach people all the wonderful things I had discovered on my travels.
I lived to be 66 years old. Today, people in Japan remember me for helping bring new ideas to our country. The little school I started grew into a big, famous university that is still helping students learn and dream today.
