Geoffrey Chaucer: The Storyteller

Hello! My name is Geoffrey Chaucer. Even when I was a little boy, a long, long time ago in a busy city called London, I loved words. I loved listening to stories, telling stories, and learning new words. Words are like magic, and I wanted to be a magician who could create wonderful tales for everyone to enjoy.

When I grew up, I got a very important job working for the king and queen! I got to travel to faraway places and meet all sorts of interesting people. I listened to their stories and decided to write them down in a big book called 'The Canterbury Tales'. It is about a group of friends walking on a long journey, and to pass the time, they each tell a silly, exciting, or funny story. I wrote my book in English, the language everyone spoke, so that not just kings and queens, but everybody could read and laugh along.

I lived a full life, filled with words and adventures. Even though that was many, many years ago, people still read my book today! My stories are shared in classrooms and read in homes all over the world. It makes me so happy to know that my tales about knights, funny animals, and everyday people still bring joy and laughter to so many. My greatest adventure was sharing my love of stories with you.
