Just want George Sand?
Hello! My name is George Sand, but that wasn't the name I was born with. My real name was Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin, but my family and friends all called me Aurore. I was born in the big city of Paris, France, on July 1st, 1804. Even though I was born in the city, I spent most of my childhood in the countryside. I lived at my grandmother’s house in a beautiful place called Nohant. I loved running through the fields, listening to wonderful stories, and imagining my own exciting adventures.
When I grew up, I knew I wanted to be a writer more than anything else. But back in the 1830s, it was very hard for women to get their books published so that other people could read them. So, I came up with a special plan! I moved back to Paris and chose a pen name, which is a special name just for writing. I called myself George Sand. I also decided to wear men's clothes, like comfortable trousers and coats. It was very unusual for a woman to do that then, but it made it much easier for me to walk all over the city by myself. It helped me have the same freedoms that men had.
As George Sand, I started writing my stories, and people loved them! My first big, successful novel was called 'Indiana,' and I published it in 1832 for everyone to read. I wrote many, many books about brave women, the beauty of life in the country, and why it is so important to be kind and fair to everyone. I also made friends with lots of other creative people, like the famous musician Frédéric Chopin. My house in Nohant became a wonderful place where artists and writers would visit to share all of their amazing ideas.

I wrote stories for my entire life, and I created more than 70 novels for people to enjoy. I lived to be 71 years old, passing away in my beloved home of Nohant in 1876. Today, people remember me not just for my books, but for being a brave woman who wasn't afraid to be different. My story reminds everyone that you should always follow your dreams, no matter what rules you have to change along the way.
