Just want Giacomo Puccini?
Hello! My name is Giacomo Puccini, and I write music that tells big, exciting stories. I was born in a beautiful town called Lucca in Italy on December 22nd, 1858. Music was all around me because my whole family were musicians! My father, my grandfather, and even my great-grandfather were all composers. I started playing the organ in our church when I was a boy, and I loved making beautiful sounds fill the big room.
When I was a teenager in 1876, I heard about a special kind of musical show called an opera. I wanted to see one so badly that I walked many miles to a nearby city. The opera was called *Aida*, and it was written by another Italian composer named Giuseppe Verdi. When the show started, I was amazed! The powerful music, the incredible singing, and the dramatic story on stage felt like magic. That night, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life: I wanted to write my own operas.
To become a great composer, I knew I had to study hard. In 1880, I moved to a big city called Milan to go to a special music school. After I finished, I started writing my own operas. I loved to tell stories about friendship and love, like my opera *La bohème*, which is about a group of friends living in Paris. I also wrote a beautiful but sad story called *Madama Butterfly*. My job was to use music to help the audience feel all the big emotions—happiness, sadness, and excitement—right along with the characters.
I spent my whole life creating music that could tell stories and touch people's hearts. I lived to be 65 years old, and I was so happy that people enjoyed my work. Even now, many years later, my operas like *Tosca* and *Turandot* are performed in theaters all over the world. My music lives on, sharing tales of love, loss, and hope with new friends everywhere.
