The story

Hans and the Secret of the Stars

Hello! My name is Hans. I was born a long, long time ago, in the year 1906. When I was a little boy, I loved to look up at the night sky. The stars twinkled like tiny diamonds, and the Moon glowed so bright. I always asked big questions, like 'How do the Sun and stars make their light?'. It was my favorite puzzle to think about.

When I grew up, I became a scientist to solve that puzzle. I studied and thought very, very hard. In the year 1939, I made a big discovery. I found out that the Sun and all the stars are like giant, warm engines in the sky. They have a special secret recipe inside them that turns stardust into bright light and cozy heat. It’s what keeps our Earth warm and sunny.

I was so excited about my discovery that I became a teacher to share it with everyone. It made me happy to help others understand our amazing universe. I lived a very long and happy life, full of questions and discoveries, and was 98 years old. I lived until the year 2005. Today, when you look up at the Sun, you can remember that I helped figure out its wonderful, shining secret.
