Just want Jan Brzechwa?
Hello! My name is Jan Brzechwa, and I loved to play with words. When I was a little boy, I found out that making words rhyme was a very fun game. I could make words sound like they were dancing and singing together. It was my favorite thing to do. Even when I grew up and had a very serious job, I still loved writing silly poems and stories for children just like you. My imagination was always full of fun ideas that I wanted to share.
I filled my books with funny characters and magical places. Have you ever heard of a duck who did everything backwards? I wrote a poem all about her! I also dreamed up a wonderful, magical school called Mr. Inkblot’s Academy. At this school, the walls had secret doors you could open, and all the lessons were full of adventure and fun. I loved making children laugh with my tales, and it made me so happy to think of you reading my stories.
I lived to be 67 years old, and my stories have lived on even longer. Today, children in Poland and all over the world still read my books. Their parents read them my poems at bedtime, and everyone giggles at my funny rhymes. It makes me so happy to know my words are still bringing smiles and wonder to the world.
