Jules Verne

Hello! My name is Jules Verne, and I want to tell you my story. I was born on February 8th, 1828, in a busy port city called Nantes in France. Growing up, I loved watching the tall ships sail in and out of the harbor. They looked so big and powerful as they moved across the water. I would imagine all the amazing places they were going and the incredible adventures the sailors were having. My head was always filled with daydreams of exploring faraway lands, deep oceans, and even the moon! I would sit for hours, thinking up stories about brave explorers and amazing discoveries. I knew, even as a little boy, that I wanted to share these exciting ideas with the world.

When I grew up, my father wanted me to be a lawyer, but my heart belonged to storytelling. I moved to Paris and started writing plays and stories that were full of adventure. In 1863, I wrote my first big adventure novel, 'Five Weeks in a Balloon.' People loved it! After that, my imagination really took off like one of my hot-air balloons. I wrote about a thrilling 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' in 1864, where characters found a hidden world deep under the ground. Then, in 1870, I imagined a fantastic submarine called the Nautilus in 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas.' My character, Captain Nemo, explored a secret world under the waves, seeing amazing sea creatures and sunken treasures. A couple of years later, in 1872, I wrote about a race 'Around the World in Eighty Days.' I loved thinking about science and inventions and weaving them into my exciting tales. My goal was to make science feel like a grand adventure.

I spent my life writing what I called 'Voyages Extraordinaires,' or Extraordinary Journeys. I wanted my stories to be fun, but also to teach my readers about geography, science, and the amazing world around them. I wrote about incredible things that had not been invented yet. I lived to be 77 years old, and my mind was full of adventures until the very end. Today, people call me the 'Father of Science Fiction' because I wrote about things like electric submarines and space travel long before they were real. I hope my stories inspire you to be curious, to dream big, and to imagine all the wonderful things that are possible.
