Hello! My name is Marcus Aurelius. I lived a very, very long time ago in a big, busy city called Rome. When I was a little boy, I loved to read books and learn new things. My favorite thing to do was think big thoughts about how to be a good friend and a kind person.
When I grew up, I became an emperor. That's like being a king for all the people in Rome! It was a very important job. I always remembered what I learned in my books: to be fair, to listen, and to help everyone I could. I wanted to be the best and kindest leader for my people.
Even when I was busy, I always made time to think. I had a special notebook just for my ideas. I would write down my thoughts about being brave when I was scared, being calm when things were tricky, and always trying to do the right thing. It was like my secret diary for being a good person.
I lived to be 58 years old, and I tried my best every single day. Today, people can still read my special book of thoughts, which is called 'Meditations.' It helps them learn how to be kind and brave, just like I tried to be.
