A Story About Mary Todd Lincoln

Hello. My name is Mary Todd Lincoln. A long, long time ago, in the year 1818, I was born in a big house in a place called Kentucky. When I was a little girl, I loved to read books more than anything. Reading stories was my favorite way to play and imagine wonderful things. Learning new things from my books made me so happy.

When I grew up, I met a very kind and tall man named Abraham Lincoln. He was a special friend, and soon we fell in love. We decided to get married and start our own family. We had four wonderful sons, and our home was always filled with so much love and happy laughter. Being a mother to my boys was my greatest joy.

In the year 1861, something amazing happened. My husband, Abraham, became the President of the United States. We moved into a very big and famous home called the White House. It was my job to make our new house a beautiful and happy place for my family and for our country. I loved helping my husband and serving the people of our nation.

I lived to be 63 years old. People remember me as a First Lady who loved her family and her country with all her heart. I hope you remember to always be kind and help the people you love.
