The story

Pierre Curie: A Life of Discovery

Hello! My name is Pierre Curie, and I was a scientist. I was born a long time ago, in the year 1859, in a city called Paris, France. Ever since I was a boy, I loved exploring the world around me. I would look at bugs, plants, and rocks and wonder how they worked. I spent my days in a laboratory, which is a special room for scientists, trying to figure out the world's secrets.

One day in 1894, I met another scientist named Marie. She was just as curious as I was! We fell in love and became a team. We worked together in our little lab, and it was so much fun. In the year 1898, we would mix things and watch them carefully. One night, we discovered something amazing! We found two new things that had a secret, beautiful glow. We were so excited! We named them polonium and radium. We had discovered something no one had ever seen before.

Our discoveries were like little sparks of light that helped other scientists and doctors. I lived to be 46 years old. The special glowing things we found are still used today to help people. Doctors can use them to take special pictures to see inside our bodies and to help people when they are sick. I am so happy that my curiosity and our teamwork helped make the world a better place.
