Just want Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky?
Hello! My name is Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and I wrote music. A long, long time ago, in the year 1840, I was born in a country called Russia. When I was a little boy, I loved music more than anything. I would listen to songs and try to play them on the piano. Music felt like magic to me, full of feelings like happiness and excitement. I knew that when I grew up, I wanted to create my own magical music for the whole world to hear.
My favorite thing was to write music that made you want to dance. In the year 1877, I wrote the music for a ballet called Swan Lake, which is about a beautiful swan princess. Later, in the year 1892, I wrote the music for a wonderful story called The Nutcracker. It’s about a toy soldier who comes to life on Christmas Eve and dances with a Sugar Plum Fairy. Have you ever heard it? It’s full of twinkly, sweet music that sounds like candy and snowflakes.
I lived to be 53 years old, and my life ended in the year 1893. I wrote so much music in my life. Even though that was a long time ago, people all over the world still listen to my songs. Every winter, families go to see The Nutcracker ballet and hear my music. It makes me so happy to know that my magical sounds still bring joy and smiles to children just like you.
