Just want Roald Amundsen?
Hello. My name is Roald Amundsen. When I was a little boy growing up in a country called Norway, I loved the snow. I would look out my window and dream of big, chilly adventures. I wanted to explore the coldest, iciest places in the whole wide world. I imagined sliding on skis and meeting polar bears.
One of my biggest adventures was a trip to the South Pole. That’s the very, very bottom of the Earth, and it’s covered in ice and snow. I was not alone. I had a team of amazing, furry friends—my sled dogs. They were strong and fast, and they loved running in the snow. We worked together like a team, pulling our sleds across the ice. It was like a big race to see who could get there first, and we did it. We were the very first people to ever reach the South Pole.
I went on many more journeys to the cold parts of our world after that. I lived to be 55 years old, and my whole life was one big adventure. Today, people remember me as a brave explorer who went to places no one had ever been before. I hope my story makes you want to go on your own adventures, big or small.
