A Story by Salvador Dalí

Hello there. My name is Salvador Dalí. I am a painter, which means I love to make pictures. I came from a sunny place called Spain. Look at my mustache. It was very special to me. It was long and curly, and I could twirl it to point right up to the sky. I loved my silly mustache. I also loved to paint pictures that came from my imagination. My paintings showed the wonderful things I saw in my dreams. Painting my dreams was my favorite thing to do.

When I slept at night, I had so many colorful and silly dreams. I would wake up and paint them. My pictures were full of surprises. Have you ever seen a clock that melts like gooey cheese? One of my most famous paintings has clocks that are soft and dripping. I also painted big elephants walking on super long, skinny legs, like stilts. It was fun to make art that was different and surprising. I wanted my paintings to make you feel like you are in a dream with me.

I loved sharing my imagination with everyone. It made me happy to show the whole world all the amazing things I could dream up. I lived a long and happy life filled with art. I lived to be 84 years old. Today, people still look at my paintings in big buildings called museums and smile. My weird and wonderful pictures show that it’s always fun to dream and imagine new things. I hope my paintings help you dream, too.
