Just want Sitting Bull?
Hello, my name is Sitting Bull. I am a leader of the Lakota people. My home was on the big, wide-open plains. The grass grew very tall there, and the sky looked so big it went on forever. I loved living on the land with all the animals. My favorite animals were the strong, mighty buffalo. The buffalo were very important to my people. They gave us food to eat, warm clothes to wear, and skins to make our homes, which we called tipis.
Being a leader meant I had a very important job. I helped make sure everyone in my tribe was safe and had enough food to eat. I wanted to protect our home on the plains and our special way of life. As a chief, I worked very hard to help my people and make good choices for everyone. People said I was brave and strong. My name, Sitting Bull, means I was strong like a bull that sits down and cannot be moved.
I lived a long and full life, and I spent many years helping my people. I lived to be about 59 years old. Today, people remember me as a brave and wise leader who loved his people very much. I always stood up for what I believed in, and my story is shared to help others remember to be strong and kind.
