Hello, I am Suryavarman II, and I was once the king of the great Khmer Empire in Southeast Asia. My story begins a very long time ago. Around the year 1113, I became the ruler of my kingdom. I was young, but I knew I had a great responsibility. It was a difficult time for my people, and the kingdom was not united. I had to be a strong and brave leader to bring everyone together. Through strength and determination, I was able to unite the different parts of my empire and bring peace to the lands under my rule.
Being a king was a busy and important job. I was a warrior, and I often led my armies into battle to protect our lands from enemies. But a king must also be a diplomat and make friends with other powerful leaders. In the year 1116, I was proud to reconnect our kingdom with the great empire of China, building a strong relationship that helped us both. More than anything, my life was guided by my deep faith. I was a follower of the Hindu religion and was devoted to the god Vishnu, who I believed was the protector of the entire world. I wanted to do more than just rule; I wanted to create something magnificent to honor Vishnu.
My greatest dream led to my greatest project: the temple of Angkor Wat. I decided to build a temple so grand that it would be like a home for Vishnu here on Earth. I wanted it to be a special place that showed the entire structure of the universe according to my faith. We designed it with a huge, wide moat all around it to represent the world's great oceans. Inside, we built tall, pointed towers that reached for the sky, representing the mythical mountains where the gods lived. It took thousands of skilled artists, builders, and workers many decades to complete this masterpiece. They carefully carved amazing stories right into the stone walls. These carvings show tales of the gods, great battles from our history, and even scenes from my own life as king.

My time as king came to an end around the year 1150. After my life's journey was over, my people gave me a special, honorary name to remember me by: Paramavishnuloka. This beautiful name means 'he who has gone to the heavenly world of Vishnu,' which showed how much they respected my faith. Though I led armies and ruled a powerful empire, I am remembered most for the incredible temple I left behind. Angkor Wat still stands today in the country of Cambodia, and it has become a symbol of pride for the entire nation. People from all over the world travel to see its beauty, and I am happy that the masterpiece I built continues to inspire awe in so many.
