Just want Tutankhamun?
Hello, my name is Tutankhamun, and you might know me as the 'Boy King' from ancient Egypt. I was born into a world of golden sands and giant pyramids around the year 1342 BCE. My home was a beautiful land that depended on the great Nile River, which brought life to our kingdom. In Egypt, our ruler was called a pharaoh, and I was born to one day hold that important title.
My father was the Pharaoh Akhenaten. When he passed away around 1333 BCE, it was my turn to rule, even though I was only nine years old. Imagine being in charge of a whole kingdom at that age! It was a very big responsibility. Ruling beside me was my wife, Queen Ankhesenamun. Together, we had to lead the people of Egypt and make sure our kingdom was strong and prosperous.
My father had made some very big changes to our religion, but I felt it was important to honor the traditions of our ancestors. So, I decided to bring back the worship of our many gods, like the powerful sun god Ra and the great god Amun. One of the most important decisions I made was to move our country's capital city away from Amarna, where my father had moved it, and back to the grand city of Thebes. Because I was still a boy, I did not make these choices alone. I had wise advisors, including two important men named Ay and Horemheb, who helped me rule and make the best decisions for all of Egypt.
My time as pharaoh was not very long. I lived a short life and passed away around the year 1323 BCE, when I was only about nineteen years old. We now know that I had some health problems that made my life difficult. Because my death was sudden and unexpected, the people who served me had to prepare my tomb very quickly.

My time as pharaoh was not very long. I lived a short life and passed away around the year 1323 BCE, when I was only about nineteen years old. We now know that I had some health problems that made my life difficult. Because my death was sudden and unexpected, the people who served me had to prepare my tomb very quickly.
I was buried in a special place called the Valley of the Kings, where many other pharaohs were laid to rest. My tomb was smaller than others, and its entrance was soon hidden by the building of larger tombs nearby. Because of this, it was sealed and forgotten by the world. For more than 3,000 years, I rested in peace, surrounded by the most incredible treasures. There were golden chariots, sparkling jewelry, games to play, and even a magnificent golden throne. All of these things were placed in my tomb for me to use in the afterlife.
The secret of my tomb was finally uncovered by a British archaeologist named Howard Carter. He spent many years searching the Valley of the Kings, hoping to find where I was buried. His hard work paid off on November 4th, 1922, when his team found a hidden set of steps leading down to a doorway. When he saw that the ancient seals on the door were still intact, he knew he had found something amazing. The discovery of my tomb and its treasures surprised and delighted the entire world.
I lived to be about 19 years old. Even though my reign was short, the discovery of my tomb became one of the most important archaeological finds in history. It was filled with so many treasures that it taught people more about ancient Egyptian life than ever before. Today, my golden burial mask is a famous symbol of my kingdom's beauty, and people remember me as the Boy King whose story was hidden for thousands of years.
