I am your secret puzzle helper. I can take a little letter, like a wiggly 'x', and say, 'x' is our secret number. The letter 'x' holds the number of hiding cars. We can play a game to find out what 'x' is. Isn't that fun. I love helping you find secret things and count your toys. I am like a magic key that unlocks your puzzles.

Are you ready to know my name. I am Algebra. It's a big word for a big helper. A long, long time ago, there was a very clever and kind man. His name was al-Khwārizmī. He lived in a warm, sunny place. He saw how I could help people solve all kinds of puzzles. He could use me to make sure everyone got a fair share of yummy snacks. He could use me to figure out how many bricks to build a strong wall. He thought I was so helpful that he wrote a big, important book all about me. That book gave me my name, Algebra, so that everyone, everywhere could learn how to use me to solve their puzzles.

Today, I am busier than ever. I still love helping with little puzzles, but I help with big ones, too. I help builders make skyscrapers that touch the bright, fluffy clouds. I help clever people make your favorite fun video games beep and boop. I even help big, shiny rockets zoom all the way up to the moon and the stars.
