Just want Art Deco?
Have you ever seen a super tall building that looks like it is trying to touch the clouds. It is so pointy and shiny. Sometimes you might see a zig-zag line, like a little lightning bolt, on a big gate. Or maybe you see a shape like a bright, shining sun on a clock. Those are my favorite things to make. They are so much fun. Hello. I am Art Deco, and I love to make the world look fancy and new.
After a big, sad time called the First World War ended in 1918, people wanted the world to feel happy and exciting again. They wanted everything to be bright and full of fun. So, in the year 1925, they had a giant party in a beautiful city called Paris, in a country named France. At the party, clever people showed off amazing new things they had made. There were sleek cars that went vroom, shiny radios that played happy music, and tall, tall buildings that reached for the sky. They used strong lines and fun shapes like triangles and circles and made everything sparkle. That is when everyone saw me and said, 'Wow.'. They fell in love with all my fun designs.
Guess what. I am still here. You can see me all around you today. Look for me on old movie theaters with bright, colorful signs that light up the night. You can see my tall, pointy shapes on famous buildings in big, busy cities. Sometimes, you can even see me in cartoons that want to look super stylish and cool. I am here to help remind everyone to be bold, dream big, and make the world a beautiful place. So the next time you see a zig-zag or a sunburst shape, you can give me a little wave because you know my name.
