Hello! Shhh... can you hear the quiet? I am a very special kind of house. I don’t have beds or a kitchen, but I am filled with wonderful things to see. In my rooms, you can find paintings with every color of the rainbow and statues that look like they could tell you a secret. I am a place for looking, dreaming, and wondering. People walk slowly through my halls, whispering about all the beautiful stories they see.

I am an Art Museum! A long, long time ago, art was often kept in big palaces where only kings and queens could see it. But then, a wonderful idea sparked! People thought everyone should be able to enjoy beautiful things. One of the very first times my doors opened for everybody was in a city called Rome, way back in the year 1734. A little later, on August 10th, 1793, a huge palace in Paris called the Louvre also became a museum for all people. It was so exciting! I wasn't just for royalty anymore; I was for you!

Today, you can find me in cities all over the world. I love it when children visit. You can see paintings of sleepy lions, shiny stars, and funny faces. You can look at a blob of paint and imagine a whole new world. I am a place to let your imagination run wild and see how people have shared their feelings and ideas for hundreds of years.
